Hamilton Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 wordsLaurell K. Hamilton - Essay Example In all of Hamiltonââ¬â¢s books one can go over various contemporary subjects that works out in a good way in line with the contemporary American socio-social milieu. For example, her works manage such contemporary subjects in American writing, for example, sexual orientation, sex, personality, mistreatment, and profound quality. The paper looks to investigate what makes Hamilton a contemporary essayist who manages contemporary subjects in writing and in doing so the paper centers around the predominant topics in her compositions. The subjects of sexual orientation and sex are prevailing in Hamiltonââ¬â¢s compositions and it is these topics that characteristic her works a contemporary nature despite the fact that her plot and characters stem out of insignificant dream. One can obviously observe that her ladies heroes challenge the very idea of the generalized sexual orientation and sex jobs played by ladies in a male commanded society. Scratch Mamatas is correct when the creator comments that Hamilton achieved something very unthinkable by making ââ¬Å"a new subgenre, urban dream experience with a female lead, and fabricate another crowd for itâ⬠(Hamilton and Wilson, 2009, p. 5). Actually, Hamilton made her female heroes so that the female perusers could undoubtedly relate to the focal characters and her female heroes embrace such activities which females thought to be inconceivable in the reality. In the entirety of her books and short stories, one can find that the male characters are compelled to follow the female lead. For example, in the Anita Blake arrangement, Anita Blake accept an intense character who consistently triumphs over men. In this manner, one can see that Hamilton tested the shows of a standard dream novel where the champion consistently assumed an agreeable job to the legends. Her courageous women don't take up their lives in the heroââ¬â¢s bed for residential sexual euphoria. As a rule, in mainstream fiction, ââ¬Å"even if a lady triumphed over a man mentally, monetarily, or logically in a scene or two, before the finish of the book the female lead would be lowered and prepared to submit to the male leadâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Hamilton changed thatâ⬠(Hamilton and Wilson, 2009, p. 9). Hence, it tends to be reasoned that Hamiltonââ¬â¢s compositions delineate the changing sexual orientation jobs played by ladies and such a subject is a lot of contemporary in writing. Most likely, the subjects identified with writing infer the genuine or nonexistent existence of man and a topic in writing is supposed to be contemporary when it speaks to the current socio-social milieu. The perusers feel that the essayist is offering vent to their own feelings, emotions, complaints, dissatisfactions and encounters. A nearby perusing of Hamilton persuades one that her treatment of sex and female sexuality was a lot of strong and whimsical. At the point when one discovers Anita Blake toward the start of Hamiltonââ¬â¢s arrangement, she is a multi year old abstinent Christian who keeps exacting good codes throughout her life. Be that as it may, one discovers her supporting pre-marriage sex and taking part in extra conjugal relations as the story advances. Be that as it may, Hamilton gives Anita motivation to flip out with sex, and in doing so she unbridged the hole among people and beasts. In Cerulean Sin, Anita herself states, ââ¬Å"one of my preferred things about spending time with the beasts is the mending. Straight people appeared to get slaughtered on me a great deal. Beasts endure. Letââ¬â¢s hear it for the monsters.â⬠It is in this way apparent that Hamiltonââ¬â¢s treatment of the topic of sex and sexuality accept contemporary significance. Without a doubt, globalization is perceived as a continuous procedure that goes with it, observably, certain difficulties, for example, a wide scope of incorporated networks, provincial financial matters, and societies, through a wide scope of correspondence and exchanging. Notwithstanding, still the contention by all specialists is comparing to the subject though globalization gives comparability to people or not, at the social space. This paper explains a top to bottom conversation of this topic. 1-Globalization Even however, globalization might be characterized financially as another reconciliation of the whole worldwide economies through the capital streams, movement, exchanging, specialized spread, and essentially outside direct specula tion. 2-Culture and Globalization Despite the way that there are as of late progressing political, financial and even social uniformitarian of the world, relativism has been raised to the critical issues of a philosophical plan, alongside numerous different disciplines. There is as yet the inquiry, which is confusing that all musings identified with the idea of whether there is an expansion of social assorted variety impact the items and exercises of social and philosophizing science or not (Steger, 2009). The rivals of worldwide comparability constructed their vision on the significance of citizenship, despite the fact that the whole world turned out to be such a little town. To keep up citizenship mirrors the reality of ordinary developments in numerous nations, essentially to pick up rights, and those various rights from other nations.National citizenship has its capacity and requires the privileges of residents (Aronowitz, 2003). Lechner (2004), states that one can consider the y ear 1989 as a portrayal of citizenship. Indeed, even as of late, numerous national developments call for gaining the full citizenship, which reflects more rights, obligations, and prides. A case of the worldwide developments is the Arab Spring Revolutions. Globalization, it has took off in 1989 when the exponential development in the investigations of the worldwide universe started to require a putative worldwide reconstitution of political, monetary, and social connections as well.It has mirrored the way that individuals were living in a worldwide town, as the battles for citizenship have brought immediately and was living into their different homes (Krishna, 2008). In reality, the battles for the citizenship has been found in the fall of the Berlin Wall alongside the devastating of the Pro-Democracy development in China, were transmitted through the correspondence frameworks of worldwide media. 3-Role of Media Indeed, this term, ââ¬Å"New Mediaâ⬠has been characterized by nu merous hypotheses and opinions.Notwithstanding, there are customary discussion over its effect and the assembly. To summarize, both ââ¬Å"New Mediaâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Digital Revolutionâ⬠have been utilized conversely. Taking a gander at the principal term, new media, essentially, shows to significant changes, particularly in the electronic interchanges, which back to 1980s, while computerized insurgency demonstrates to the impact of this quick drop in the included expense and too this fast extension of advanced devicesââ¬â¢ power, for example, broadcast communications and computer.Additionally, this change carried with it certain expanding globalization, social and innovative changes, and chiefly, these adjustments in the route by which people can see themselves and the encompassed world. In particular, this quick difference in innovative unrest carries with it numerous difficulties, particularly which are comparing with creating social changes concentrating on these unders tood excellencies, qualities, and indecencies that are controlled by this fast changed innovation. With the most noteworthy difference in mechanical transformation, U.S. A. could develop with social relativism alongside being remembered for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. One increasingly basic point here should have been explained. This test showed to the change of the components of social relativism. From this topic, U. S. A could extend its capacity to legitimize its universalistic belief system. This thus, included improving, socializing, and too freeing the indigenous human in an imperious expansion. This is seen clearly in the prudent strategy of United States in Middle East.Despite the entirety of the dull occasions and negates looked by social relativism, it must be placed into thought and once more, with top to bottom mindfulness that not at all like any of the old commanders, the contentions of social relativism neither blur away beyond words, (1991). Once more, as indicated by Dascal (1991), there is a need of determining the new eventual fate of the hypothesis from the oftentimes dedicated paradox of disarray of social relativism with some other social decent variety or variability. The second can be gotten from the unmistakable truth that as of late there isn't only one sort of social relativism, however rather there are three sorts. These sorts must be considered broadly when we are keen on adding to the eventual fate of social relativism. Those kinds of spellbinding, epistemological and typical must be re-assigned under a similar term to evade any further disarray. Those three kinds are not negligible expository acts that are isolated, however they are considered verifiably distinct. The last component must elucidate any adverted aftereffects of epistemological relativism to help this contemporary sort of the hypothesis, social relativism for additional demonstrations regarding human sciences and brimming with inquires about also (Dasca l, 1991). Once more, aside from hard analysis of an inappropriate demeanor of this promotion, there is still ideally, a positive proof that old preferences are blurring with the acquaintance of each new age with the legitimate reasoning, gradually dispensing with old propensities, considerations, and activities that have been acknowledged for dreadfully long.Back to the human rightsââ¬â¢ standards, still media needs to play emphatically, its job in explaining those standards clearly. Despite the fact that, social relativism incorporated certain methodological and epistemological cases, which could be found effectively in the previously mentioned advertisement; the standard of social relativism ought not be mistaken for the thoughts of good relativism, which upheld the topic of asserting generally to verifiable, social, social, or individual circumstances.Internet, the worldwide currency showcases, the world travel, the comprehensively perceived brands, the all around composed par tnerships, and the worldwide celebritiesââ¬â¢ living, etcâ⬠¦all have discussed new methods of the social experience, which rise above every country state in addition to its constitution of the national resident (Mittelman, 2004). At the point when everybody is looking to be a genuine resident of the current national society or to set up his own national society, the term globalization has gave off an impression of being changing what it should be a resident (Ritzer and Atalay, 2010).Globalization seems to include certain debilitating of the social force and such a comparing improvement of what is called ââ¬Ëpost-nationalââ¬â¢ citizenship. The greater part of the national citizenships are these days losing their necessary grounds to the model of participation, which ought to be general and one of a kind. Such a model ought to incorporate participation, which is situated inside the expanding of territorialized countries of the additional widespread privileges of people. T his post-national citizenship is, especially, associated with the uest working's development across different social orders, more prominent worldwide relationship, which can cover the enrollments of various classifications of citizenship. The rise of universalistic originations and rules in regards to every single human right have been formalized by every global law and codes (Smith, 2002). Despite the fact that, as indicated by Aronowitz (2003), the contemporary citizenship is known as freely ââ¬Ëpost-modernââ¬â¢. Indeed, there is no cutting edge balanced legitimate state by any stretch of the imagination, especially with any away from of intensity, which can have the option to convey unambiguous obligations and rights to its residents who may show up such a country of strangers. Most significantly, and as referenced by Krishna (2008), the worldwide procedures rebuild certain social imbalances, while they are changing numerous states into those ââ¬Ëregulatorsââ¬â¢ of str eams. Moreover, brands, organizations, NGOs and a considerable lot of worldwide ââ¬Ëstatesââ¬â¢ have risen more impressive than unimportant country states. Networks, for example, Chinese, have built up no coterminous with the country states' limits. This colossal development of post-national citizenship originate from a wide procedures and numerous institutional plans, which are extending inside totally unique communities. The result is there is immense assortment of citizenships that are rising in the current world (Lechner, 2004). Numerous instances of creating of that putative worldwide citizenship, which can be explained from the worldwide media mentalities. Taking a gander at the worldwide broad communications, one can make sense of its thought of citizenship as having required certain representative assets, which have been disseminated through various methods for correspondence. There is an undeniable topic of social citizenship, which is comparing to the privileges of ev ery single social gathering, for example, age, ethnic, sex, and sexual to full social interest inside their communities. As to obligations and obligations of worldwide world, there is a topic, which exhibits a position of cosmopolitanism towards numerous different societies, situations, and different residents (Ritzer, 2010). Such cosmopolitanism includes either expending such conditions over the globe totally or in any event, declining to so devour those situations. Answer: Introducation Hierarchical conduct investigates human conduct inside associations and apply strategies to spur workers with an expectation to improve profitability of the association. It comprises of hypotheses which helps in settling issues at work put and oversee them in like manner. Proficiency of a business characterized by its prosperity. Representatives assume a vital job in this specific situation. Inspiration is the main key to urge representatives to work out as well as can be expected. Different information assortment and inspiration procedures are applied. Qualities dependent on the article given has shown up by for all intents and purposes applying different monetary instruments, strategies and methods. Plainly making it simpler for associations to comprehend and apply such techniques to build the proficiency. There are speculations on inspiration in given article, altogether clarified that gives an unmistakable thought on the most proficient method to actualize them on each degree of the executives to pick up the best results and at last increment effectiveness of such venture. Shortcomings would be the utilization of financial instruments, measurements and strategies in this inspiration look into are very escalated and systematic in nature which requires a talented work force to play out this exploration then again, and its tedious and includes extra expenses to recruit such qualified staff. At the point when information is been taken for a specific report it accompanies its own restrictions it isn't essential those strategies and methods work out for each association so the outcomes are not as exact that one can totally depend on. Inspiration has been characterized as the readiness to apply exertion to accomplish the association's objectives, molded by this current exertion's capacity to fulfill singular needs (Robbins Coulter, 1996). The creator says that opportunity to time inspiration is required to accomplish hierarchical targets. What I accept is the util ization of inspiration methods is useful in todays situation of changing and creating monetary circumstances. To investigate the concealed gifts of laborers and representatives at the work place, inspiration assumes a key job to work out the best for the association and on a similar hand fulfills the necessities of the breadwinners. The inquiry emerges why there is a need to persuade? The reasonable response for the equivalent would be its fundamental resource whose exhibition influences the set gauges by each association. To build the general productivity of the endeavor and to satisfy the drawn out target we have to concentrate on the components which lead to such objective. Since at last representative endeavors is going to assist the association with achieving the set objectives. Nonetheless, I totally concur with the explanation that effectiveness is the key fixing to accomplishment of an association where workers are the components in question and dependent on their exhibition the hierarchical targets can be accomplished. To build the results of lower level administration there is a consistent need of inspiration by top level administration (Bozeman Su, 2014). Key focuses here show concurrence with the theory explanation are: It is comprehended that inspiration drives individual to work in a way which lead to the achievements of authoritative just as close to home objectives. Inspiration not just encourages worker to improve their work capacities to outflank yet in addition fulfills their own essentials (Elliot, Dweck Yeager, 2017). It by implication uncovers the inconspicuous abilities of people when they are given appropriate direction and norms to follow. Inspiration strategies and procedures help supervisor to design out the premise of what techniques and how to apply them as needs be to the sort of workforce present right now. Expanded effectiveness guarantees predominance in items and that outcomes in greater offers in showcase. (Digger, 2015). Functional and systematic estimates given under article demonstrates that in the event that legitimate techniques are to be applied in the executives, at that point it will be considerably more simpler for chiefs to get positive outcomes. On the off chance that we take a gander at the overviews done in given article it very well may be comprehended that there are methods of strategies and procedures to be followed to inspire every single sort of gathering at the work place. Significance of inspiration at working environment is all around characterized and it legitimately influences the presentation of representatives (Robbins Coulter, 1996). On the side of the said contention, inquire about is being never really proof for the equivalent. It has been contended that inspiration methods to build effectiveness of laborers applied by directors are helpful for the supervisor and association or not. A little move towards the requirements of representatives and what can persuade them to work more and a specific way could bring about better perspectives. Its difficult to remain concentrated each time at that specific point one should be pushed in a positive way. (Wong, 2013) Some control by bosses in lower level of the executives and dealing with representatives remembering their requirements that what can work for them and to move them a specific way. This ends up being one of the best techniques for inspiration to expand effectiveness of breadwinners (Queen and Hess, 2017). There are philosophical directions dependent on human instinct and conduct about what can be unsurprising as of their needs and needs at working environment and how they can be urged to propel themselves towards hierarchical objectives. Supervisor needs to analyze the power and bearing of inspiration required which coordinates with the representatives present right now. (Goulionis, 2013) From the understandings of class ideas it is comprehended that inspiration is the path through which execution is achieved at the set gauges by associations. Directors should put forth attempts to discover what should be possible to whom to get wanted outcomes as every individual is extraordinary as are their needs. There are various ways and strategies grouped to rouse every individual the same. Every one of these years we have considered is Abrahams Maslow hypothesis of necessities dependent on chain of importance of requirements and those five needs to be specific are: - Physiological: It incorporates fundamental necessities. - Safety: Where the need emerge for security and enthusiastic mischief. - Social: The requirement for social belongingness emerges. - Esteem: It incorporates two components (inside and outer) which incorporates dignity, accomplishment, status, acknowledgment. Self-realization: The need where drive for self-satisfaction emerges (Healy, 2016). By applying the Maslows hypothesis, supervisor gets a thought of how to spur somebody by knowing his present needs and spotlights on the equivalent. This hypothesis is very consistent and straightforward and doesn't require certain abilities to perform (Piche?re, Cadiat and Probert, 2015). bookkeeping directly affects representative profitability as they work best of their capacities which brings about expanded efficiency. There are a few different ways to spur worker so as to build their profitability which shifts from representative to worker. It comprises of barely any components and they are clarified underneath: Motivating forces A compensation is a significant impact for representatives at work. A compelling compensation can drive representative to expand efficiency and work best of their capacity. Motivator accompanies an assortment of courses of action for instance advantages, rewards, paid leave. It is intended to drive representative toward a path as required by chief. Acknowledgment Employee needs input and acknowledgment at one point of time by their managers to yield quality work. Affirmations made by bosses directly affects representative subsequently persuades to improve. Self-inspiration Some workers are self-taught and self-propelled; all they need is a little consideration and acknowledgment by bosses. Different elements won't impact them since they take up close to home difficulties and work profitably (Robbins, et. al., 2016). End according to the investigations made in the setting is that inspiration ends up being most basic variable in expanding profitability of representatives and eventually ventures productivity gets expanded and prompts greater offers in the market. The study shows separation of various elements and factors taken from economy to feature the inspiration methodology. The strategies and procedures and monetary instruments make it simpler for director to apply such methodologies to get wanted outcomes. Be that as it may, it accompanies its own hindrances according to my perspective it requires qualified aptitudes to apply such strategies. Time utilization and different costs associated with it makes it an increasingly basic methodology to embrace References Armstrong, M., Taylor, S. (2014). The eatery has a principle goal of ensuring that, it gives Indian food as well as an Indian domain for its clients. In this way, the eatery the board has thought of two ideas on the most proficient method to approach understanding this objective. The first is that the administration proposed to build up an Indian nursery with an Indian touch. The administration had as a top priority a spot that gives its Indian clients and every one of its clients a lovely cooperation with the gardenââ¬â¢s regular excellence. A nursery is alluded to as a spot to develop the plant and display an assortment of plants for decorative reason or viable use. Be that as it may, since the café is situated around and space is constrained, an acceptable format plan is expected to understand a characteristic Indian nursery look. For example, to think of a house an expert engineer is required a similar case with a nursery. So as to acknowledge palatable outcomes from a nursery, the nursery ought to be planned cautiously considering its perpetual and semi-lasting highlights (Miller et al, 2012). An Indian nursery joins the tasteful Indian excellence, aestheticness from India and information on development and improvement of plants just as standards of nursery upkeep rehearses. May it orchestrate trees, climber, bushes, or some other blossoms, a structure is pertinent. This is on the grounds that plans layout the character of an article or a spot in filling its sole need. The plan may either be stylish of monetary in such a manner it pulls in just for a reason (Miller et al, 2012). In this way, there are various crucial elements to consider. The first is that the nursery design ought to be advantageous and agreeable to the proprietor. The subsequent one is that the structure ought to be basic and particular. For instance, for this situation, the nursery is an Indian nursery; subsequently, the structure ought to be straightforward where even an American Indian will perceive the Indian touch initially. skinexdette1973http://www.blogger.com/profile/04060249106105281144noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3865599261503930998.post-17847333345508302512020-08-21T21:15:00.001-07:002020-08-21T21:15:17.309-07:00Company Report of Barratt Developments PLC EssayOrganization Report of Barratt Developments PLC - Essay Example In the correlation of the companyââ¬â¢s late execution to that of its nearest rival, Taylor Wimpey Plc it is noticed that thou it produces more income than this contender it presented lower benefits due on gigantic use emerging from an immense obligation reimbursement. Under the third area of the report, the procedures of market infiltration and improvement are introduced as the contemplated techniques for the future monetary accomplishment of the organization. 1.0 Introduction The chronicled foundation of the cutting edge lodging segment in the United Kingdom show that at first the segment was commanded by the administration and privately owned businesses, which built houses for their laborers yet there was next to no investment of private specific development organizations. Be that as it may, this changed with the expanded strain to embrace the neo-progression financial practices that supported privatization of most open enterprises and prompted the rise of particular developmen t organizations, which altered the lodging division and brought about the advancement of one of a kind, all around planned, and built houses and business premises (Lowe, 2011). This report centers around the Barratt Development PLC, which is among the biggest private property advancement organizations in the United Kingdom. It has been in activity since 1958 and is to a great extent acclaimed with the advancement of the UK private property part (Lowe, 2011). Furthermore, it will basically evaluate the companyââ¬â¢s budgetary execution in the ongoing years while contrasting it with its nearest rival. This conversation will likewise join an investigation of the effect of government approaches on the lodging segment and their effect on the activities of Barratt Developments Plc. 2.1 Interest rates In the examinations directed by Myers (2013), he expressed that the loan cost levels inside a nation to a great extent decide the openness of credit and for this situation the availability of home loan. The pace of enthusiasm at which borrowers will reimburse back their home loan to a great extent decides the blasts and busts on the UKââ¬â¢s house costs. On the off chance that the pace of intrigue charged on contract account is extensively high, first time homebuyers will be disheartened and this will prompt a bust in the lodging costs because of the low interest. E-commerce draws from technologies such as supply chain management, inventory management system, mobile commerce, internet marketing and automated data collection systems. Currently, e-commerce is the most imperative aspects of internet to emerge (Plant 2000, 161). This is because it allows consumers to exchange their products electronically without time or distance obstacles. Much has changed since the last CSCA report on e-commerce business. One of these changes is the increasing rate of global expansion on business-to-business and business-to-consumers models of e-commerce. With the ever increasing globalization, online businesses are in course to please customers and generate profits. As a result, constant customization and innovation of the web will continue to diversify trade (Plant 2000, 69). E-commerce sector has evolved and will continue to develop. The following are four five trends that have shaped E-commerce in recent times. Increased Online Security-simpler payment processThe increased globalization has seen more customers switch to online payments mechanisms such as PayPal as well as credit and debit card transactions. As a matter of fact, e-commerce sites have emphasized on online security with the likely introduction of new safer payment methods and increased improvement on current ones. The move has translated to increased number of online shoppers and the number of financial transactions undertaken online. Many online retailers have also resorted to offering discount coupons to induce sales and a means of online payment.Localization Online traders do not shy away from creating indigenous e-commerce websites. This refers to a totally localized user experience. The move i s welcomed for online retailers because it caters for niche markets. The current generation is very curious and loves to explore. Therefore, the products marketed across as exotic and traditional easily attract customers and generates revenue (Schneider 2011, 161).Interactive products display that replace imagesWith so many products at their disposal, most customers become apprehensive. Images rarely convince customers to buy a product because customers cannot judge product with them. As a result, product demonstration videos have been used more frequently to address the need of apprehensive customers (Schneider 2011, 28). Online business and product demonstration videos have become popular with ever-improving internet speeds. Social media has also been integrated in the e-commerce debate. Retailers have turned to social media in a big way for better video sharing through Twitter, Facebook and other sites. Marketers have continued to regard social media as part of marketing mix so m uch that they have integrated it with other marketing strategies (Schneider 2011, 67). M-commerceE-commerce has realized the need for deeper mobile integration; for instance, the increased use of responsive web design that became dominant in the year 2012. Online businesses have continued to adapt to and make the most use of the available screen real estate of the device from which they are being accessed. Thanks to responsive web design, there is just one website that will adapt itself to be viewed in an ideal manner for any screen size. Online retailers have continued to create better and customized mobile applications. As a result, e-commerce has become more focused thanks to personalized mobile campaigns that targets specific customers (Schneider 2011, 13). The future in technology is mobile, broadband, mobile, wireless and multimedia (3D, video, 4D). All these technological advancements are rapidly developing and are being integrated into e-commerce and onli... skinexdette1973http://www.blogger.com/profile/04060249106105281144noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3865599261503930998.post-45586606933402182922020-06-04T22:00:00.001-07:002020-06-04T22:00:02.168-07:00Executive Summary & Book Critique The Hacked World Order - 1100 WordsExecutive Summary & Book Critique: The Hacked World Order (Essay Sample) Content: Name:Instructor:Course:Date:The Hacked World OrderExecutive SummaryIn the book The Hacked World Order, Adam Segal explores how nations have utilized the web to wage wars against each other. He describes the period from June 2012 to June 2013 clarifying how countries leveraged the cyberspace to reassert their control over the flow of information in the search for power, wealth, and influence. Furthermore, he shows how countries managed to utilize the web to combat countries that they considered as adversaries. In his book, Segal clearly indicates how countries have used the Internet to destroy, protect, or build relations with others. In addition, the book identifies the extent to which nations have been spying on others. Segal explains that more than forty-one countries run cyber warfare doctrines. Further, the author states that the United States spends more on cyber offenses than it spends on cyber defense. Segal indicates that the countries such as Israel, Russia, and the United Kingdom have dedicated tremendous resources to form cyberspace operation centers. He shows that some of these countries spend as much money on cyber warfare as they spend on their other military units such as the air force and navy. The book also analyzes the Stuxnet Malware that was developed by Israel and American cyberspace armies to destroy Iran's nuclear enrichment program, by causing programs to malfunction and others to self-destruct. In addition, Segal discusses the dangers posed by hacking to security, economic well-being, and privacy. He also considers the effects of propaganda that is spread on Twitter and other social networking sites to global peace.Evaluation of the Book Segal asserts that slight progress has been made in the development of laws that govern the use of state sponsored hacking. The author suggests that state sponsored hacking should be treated as illegal and should be punishable by law. However, Segals assertion that all levels of hacking a re crimes is improper. Some countries such as the United States have heavily relied on hacking to identify and pursue criminals (Segal 128). At the same time, individuals such as Jack Snowden utilized hacking to expose corruption and other wrongs that governments do (Bauman 6). Therefore, arguing that any type of hacking is a criminal act is inappropriate since some forms of hacking are beneficial. Segal states that spying has a very slight effect on international politics unless such intrusion becomes public. However, spying on other nations, especially ones that are viewed as development partners or friends, is not right. Therefore, asserting that spying is correct as long as the public is not aware is not appropriate. Firstly, it is the right of every citizen to know what their government is doing. Secondly, if the friendly countries discover that they are being spied on, then a subtle difference could arise (Cohen et al. 28). For example, when Germany found out that the United S tates was spying it, the German considered it as a breach of friendship and lack of mutual respect.Segal notes that cyber-attacks are only political games and do not have any serious consequences to the nations that are involved. On the contrary, assuming cyber-attacks to be similar to political games is inappropriate. With cyber-attacks, many factors are at stake. In addition, there are instances where governments spend enormous amounts of money to develop new technology. However, through cyber attacks, such technologies may be stolen, despite their high research and development costs (Taylor et al. 4). Therefore, cyber-attacks cannot be considered as mere political games; rather, they should be regarded as risks that may cause tremendous losses to a nation.Segal claims that the Chinese government sponsors many attacks towards the United States. Further, he asserts that in 2015, the attacks were so severe that the US president had to visit China to discuss the issue with the Chines e president (Brenner Channel 16). However, it may be an assumption since there was no clear indication that the US president reviewed the matter of cyber security or attacks with his Chinese counterpart. The leaders may have addressed other issues such as their trade that would be considered as more important to the public. The biggest problem that is attributed to the Internet is the inability to determine ... skinexdette1973http://www.blogger.com/profile/04060249106105281144noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3865599261503930998.post-37057868395291623092020-05-26T18:30:00.001-07:002020-05-26T18:30:03.677-07:00The Benefits of Risk Taking Essay SamplesThe Benefits of Risk Taking Essay SamplesMany students may find it hard to choose the right one among all the essay samples, which you can get through online. When people have their head down they are likely to think of someone being sad, that is where the phrase keep your head up comes from. Another way which Ziggy Marley uses imagery is when he says, ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m on a rocky cliff,â⬠(13). A rocky cliff conjures up images of someone looking down and there is a sheer drop-off into the ocean. This part is where it is shown that Ziggy is near the point of no return. When someone jumps off a cliff, there is no direct way back, they would be forced swim to closest beach. Without that person, Ziggy is near the point of no return. Another way which Ziggy uses to drive the meaning of his song is through metaphors and similes. Throughout the song, Ziggy uses metaphors and similes to drive the meaning behind his it. Ziggy uses Hawaii as a metaphor for happiness. Hawaii is a metaphor for happiness because of the imagery that is conjured, which is people smiling, and relaxing on the beach. For Ziggy, being in Hawaii means that he is at least somewhat satisfied, but he is not completely satisfied. The reason why Ziggy is not completely happy is because that one person that Ziggy wants to be with him is not there with him, therefore Ziggy could never be completely satisfied even if he is happy.Show MoreRelatedPopulation Growth Has Fueled The Demand For More Resources1395 Words à |à 6 Pageswithin 100 km of the coast. Situations are typically defined by the physical elements of a location that helped determine it as good for settlement, which can include factors such as availability of building materials and water supply, the quality of soil, the climate of the region, and opportunities for shelters and defense ââ¬â for this reason, many coastal cities are formed due to their proximity to both rich agricultural land and trade ports. Of the many factors that help determine ifà a location is appropriateà for settling, each can beà divided into one of fourà generally accepted categories: climatic, economic, physical and traditional.à Climatic, Economic, Physical, and Traditional Factors In order to better categorize which factors ultimately affect settlement, geographers have generally accepted four umbrella terms to describe these elements: climatic, economic, physical, and traditional. Climatic factors such as wet or dry situations, availability and theà need for shelter and drainage, and theà necessity for warmer or cooler garb can all determine whether or not the situation is appropriate for settlement. Similarly, physical factors like shelter and drainage, as well as soil quality, water supply, ports, and resources, can affect whether or not a location is suitable for building a city. Economic factors such as nearby markets for trade, ports for importing and exporting goods, number of available resources to account for Gross Domestic Product, and commercial routeways also play a large role in this decision, as do traditional factors such as defenses, hills, and local relief for new establishments in the locations region. Changing Situations Throughout history, settlers have had to establish a variety of different ideal factors to determine the best course of action for establishing new settlements, which have changed drastically over time. Whereas most settlements in medieval times were established based on an availability of fresh water and good defenses, there are many more factors that now determine how well a settlement would do given its location. Now, climatic factors and traditional factors play a much larger role in establishing new cities and towns because physical and economic factors are typically worked out based on international or domestic relationships and controls ââ¬â though elements of these such as availability of resources and proximity to trade ports do still play a major role in the establishment process. skinexdette1973http://www.blogger.com/profile/04060249106105281144noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3865599261503930998.post-27772829751191496462020-05-16T02:54:00.001-07:002020-05-16T02:54:10.893-07:00What Are the Converse, Contrapositive, and Inverse Conditional statements make appearances everywhere. In mathematics or elsewhere, it doesnââ¬â¢t take long to run into something of the form ââ¬Å"If P then Q.â⬠Conditional statements are indeed important. What is also important are statements that are related to the original conditional statement by changing the position of P, Q and the negation of a statement. Starting with an original statement, we end up with three new conditional statements that are named the converse, the contrapositive, and the inverse. Negation Before we define the converse, contrapositive, and inverse of a conditional statement, we need to examine the topic of negation. Every statement in logic is either true or false. The negation of a statement simply involves the insertion of the word ââ¬Å"notâ⬠at the proper part of the statement. The addition of the word ââ¬Å"notâ⬠is done so that it changes the truth status of the statement. It will help to look at an example. The statement ââ¬Å"The right triangle is equilateralâ⬠has negation ââ¬Å"The right triangle is not equilateral.â⬠The negation of ââ¬Å"10 is an even numberâ⬠is the statement ââ¬Å"10 is not an even number.â⬠Of course, for this last example, we could use the definition of an odd number and instead say that ââ¬Å"10 is an odd number.â⬠We note that the truth of a statement is the opposite of that of the negation. We will examine this idea in a more abstract setting. When the statement P is true, the statement ââ¬Å"not Pâ⬠is false. Similarly, if P is false, its negation ââ¬Å"not ââ¬â¹Pâ⬠is true. Negations are commonly denoted with a tilde ~. So instead of writing ââ¬Å"not Pâ⬠we can write ~P. Converse, Contrapositive, and Inverse Now we can define the converse, the contrapositive and the inverse of a conditional statement. We start with the conditional statement ââ¬Å"If P then Q.â⬠The converse of the conditional statement is ââ¬Å"If Q then P.â⬠The contrapositive of the conditional statement is ââ¬Å"If not Q then not P.â⬠The inverse of the conditional statement is ââ¬Å"If not P then not Q.â⬠We will see how these statements work with an example. Suppose we start with the conditional statement ââ¬Å"If it rained last night, then the sidewalk is wet.â⬠The converse of the conditional statement is ââ¬Å"If the sidewalk is wet, then it rained last night.â⬠The contrapositive of the conditional statement is ââ¬Å"If the sidewalk is not wet, then it did not rain last night.â⬠The inverse of the conditional statement is ââ¬Å"If it did not rain last night, then the sidewalk is not wet.â⬠Logical Equivalence We may wonder why it is important to form these other conditional statements from our initial one. A careful look at the above example reveals something. Suppose that the original statement ââ¬Å"If it rained last night, then the sidewalk is wetâ⬠is true. Which of the other statements have to be true as well? The converse ââ¬Å"If the sidewalk is wet, then it rained last nightâ⬠is not necessarily true. The sidewalk could be wet for other reasons. The inverse ââ¬Å"If it did not rain last night, then the sidewalk is not wetâ⬠is not necessarily true. Again, just because it did not rain does not mean that the sidewalk is not wet.The contrapositive ââ¬Å"If the sidewalk is not wet, then it did not rain last nightâ⬠is a true statement. What we see from this example (and what can be proved mathematically) is that a conditional statement has the same truth value as its contrapositive. We say that these two statements are logically equivalent. We also see that a conditional statement is not logically equivalent to its converse and inverse. Since a conditional statement and its contrapositive are logically equivalent, we can use this to our advantage when we are proving mathematical theorems. Rather than prove the truth of a conditional statement directly, we can instead use the indirect proof strategy of proving the truth of that statementââ¬â¢s contrapositive. Contrapositive proofs work because if the contrapositive is true, due to logical equivalence, the original conditional statement is also true. It turns out that even though the converse and inverse are not logically equivalent to the original conditional statement, they are logically equivalent to one another. There is an easy explanation for this. We start with the conditional statement ââ¬Å"If Q then Pâ⬠. The contrapositive of this statement is ââ¬Å"If not P then not Q.â⬠Since the inverse is the contrapositive of the converse, the converse and inverse are logically equivalent. skinexdette1973http://www.blogger.com/profile/04060249106105281144noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3865599261503930998.post-26649653152950951402020-05-06T21:55:00.001-07:002020-05-06T21:55:27.098-07:00Essay Classic Mayan Architecture - 1687 Words Classic Mayan Architecture Mayan culture existed a thousand years ago, in what is now part of Central America. Its ruins were almost entirely abandoned by 600 A.D, and were not rediscovered until the early 1500ââ¬â¢s, by Spanish settlers. Mayan architecture astounded the early conquistadors, and continues to be of great interest to modern archeologists as well. These scientists have labeled a certain period of Mayan architectural history as the ââ¬Å"Classicâ⬠period. This refers to a period when the Mayan civilization flourished, and extended from 300 to roughly 900 A.D (Miller 52). Because of our image of classical antiquity, the word ââ¬Å"Classicâ⬠implies the heights of cultured accomplishment. In the classic period, we envision musiciansâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦These people built fake mountains by piling rock, and building a foundation on top to build a temple. The Mayans developed these temples further by adding sculpture, and painted faces onto these pyramids. The whole building would then be covered with plaster, and painted red or other bright colors. The Temples were often small, and had three dark rooms in their interior. One of the rooms would be an inner sanctuary where the king preformed his rituals (Liz 1-6). That temples were, in fact, religious buildings is beyond question; structures of the same shape were still in use when the Spaniards arrived and described with horror the bloody sacrifices that took place within t he temple walls. Some Mayan temples have multiple doorways and suites of interconnected rooms. In some rooms, plaster-and-stone thrones look through doorways onto courtyards where one can easily envision crowds of religious supplicants (Culbert 165). Many temples also contain architecture that curiously corresponds with certain astrological phenomenon. Most temples constructed during the Classic period have a total of 365 stairs, and openings that align with the summer and winter solstices. When the temples were built, the architects aligned the temples with the sun, the moon, and the stars (Liz 1-6). Some of the most distinct features of Classic Mayan culture were the pyramids. The Costs of operating a companyââ¬â¢s distribution channels and the ways to manage such costs. Decisions relating to the channels of distribution for a product or service are part of the strategic marketing plan. In that plan, the target market will have been specified along with target levels of market share, market coverage, customer service and so on. The channels of distribution used by an organisation must be capable of assisting in reaching these targets. Moreover, the establishment of a distribution system can take a long time, perhaps several years, and so decisions about the channels of distribution cannot be taken lightly, and have to be taken with a view to the longer term since it is not usually that easy to switch between channels. Strategic planning: Distribution channels must be compatible with the strategic marketing plan. If, for instance, a skimming strategy has been adopted or the product requires technical sales support, then mass marketing is probably inappropriate. Alternatively, if large volume sales are required in order to achieve particular profit targets, then selective distribution would be inappropriate. As new products are introduced, existing channels have to be reassessed since they may not be the right channels for the new product. In some cases, a company will decide not to launch a new product because it does not fit in with existing distribution channels and existing strategy. The next important character of this book is the twelve year old Gun boy that was murdered. His name is Ernest ACTA, who was a very important child to the Badger Clan, who all thought he would grow up to be a natural leader in the community. Ernest was selected by his community for the honor of being the Little Fire God at the Shalom festival. Ernest was apparently open minded, and the least prejudice person of all the Gun community.Next important people are the Bowlegs family. There is the father Shorts Bowlegs, the youngest brother Cecil Bowlegs, and finally the other of the rooters George Bowlegs. According to Loophole, Shorts was a major alcoholic. Loophole also said he seemed to be a loving father, but his alcohol deterred often deterred most of his great actions. He eventually was killed during sometime in the book. Cecil Bowlegs according to Loophole was a very young but brave Navajo boy that he misinterpreted to being George Bowlegs, Cells brother.Cecil was a very cautious person when it came to anyone who worked for the authorities, which made it a really hard challenge for Loophole to get information about the case. Throughout the book, Loophole had to essentially lie to Cecil to try ND gain his trust. Cecil caught on to his tactics, which lead to him having to apologize for lying to the boy and lead to him treating him with much more respect. After Cells father died he truly entrusted himself in Loophole. George Bowlegs is best known as Reenters best friend who was a Navajo. George seems to be growing up with a tough life, knowing that his mother ran away and his father being a raging alcoholic. To further this problematic situation, George is attending a Gun school where is suffering from very discriminatory actions from his fellow students. George was seen as a role del for Cecil. George was hunting for food for both his brother and father, and became a successful hunter Of both styles Of the Gun and the Navajo. The next character of importance is the man who Lieutenant Loophole determined through his investigation that murdered Shorts Bowlegs, George Bowlegs, and Ernest ACTA His name is DRP.Reynolds. Loophole has uncovered through his investigations that DRP. Reynolds was a well-known anthropologist that had planted fake arrowheads at an archeological dig site that he was supposedly funding for his upcoming protog, Ted Isaacs. With hat being said, Loophole believes this the reason why DRP. Reynolds killed Ernest, George, and Shorts, to prevent anyone from finding out the truth behind what he had done. The last important person to the story is the Gun Chief of Police De Piquant. When Loophole is dead certain that DRP.Reynolds was the killer, he went right to the chief. De then doesnt even make an attempt to arrest DRP. Reynolds. Coincidentally this leads Loophole to tell the Gun of the murder of Ernest ACTA, George Bowlegs, and Shorts Bowlegs. This is when the Gun found DRP. Reynolds, and killed him for killing one of their own, Ernest ACTA. In the beginning of the book, we learn of who Ernest ACTA was and how he ended up being murdered. Ernest was a young boy that was selected by his people, the Gun, to be the Qualities, also known as the little fire god, at the festival of Shalom. Then the writer goes on to explain that the fire god must be in shape, if he isnt Gun people would beat him with their wands. We also meet George here, we find out that he wanted to know the secrets of the Gun people and this tended to make Ernest angry. Then one night that Ernest running along one of his routes, he thought George would be waiting for him, UT to his dismay it was an ancestor spirit that only one sees when they are about to die. Finally we get to meet the Lieutenant that is going to be investigating the murder of Ernest ACTA.His name is Lieutenant Joe Loophole who is a Navajo Dine policeman. One of the first things that Loophole did was he went to try and investigate Reenters best friend George. But in return this is when he ended up meeting Cecil, Georges younger brother, who was a Navajo also. Loophole then tries to get some answers our of Cecil, but Cecil is very skeptical of law enforcement figures, especially since he thinks that he s trying to find his brother George who they may think killed Ernest. Cecil tends to think otherwise from Loopholes investigation.Loophole then goes to where Cecil has pointed out that Ernest and George had stolen some artifacts from, which took him to an archeological dig site. He meets Ted Isaacs and DRP. Reynolds, the two who want to prove DRP. Reynolds theory that some Folsom men have artistic arrowhead styles that were credited to other such cultures in a form of error. After he hears about the theory, Loophole then asks about if he has seen Ernest and George. DRP. Reynolds then tells Loophole that he had chased the two boys out of his dig site so that they wouldnt destroy or tamper with anything.Loophole asked if they had stolen anything and he claimed that they did not, which doesnt add up to what Cecil had told him before he went to the dig. A couple days after the death of Ernest Cater authorities have determined that it was indeed a homicide, Ernest was murdered. Loophole then started to investigate where he was murdered. While he was there, Loophole had used his excellent tracking skills and discovered the many tracks he found. He found Reenters uncles, who found Ernest, the chief of polices, Georges boots, and finally an unknown track made from a moccasin.According to one of the details Loophole found, it is to his understanding that the killer and Ernest had a stare down before he was eventually murdered. Then to finalize his investigation, he doesnt think that George killed Ernest. Loophole then reflected back on what his grandfather Instabilities had taught him. He told him that the only goal for man was beauty, and that beauty was found only in harmony, and that this harmony of nature was a matter of dazzling complexity. His grandfather told him that all patterns are caused by action and reaction and by cause and effect. The term he told him was in all things a pattern, and in this pattern, the beauty of harmony. Thus one learned to live with evil, by understanding it, by reading its cause. Thus one learned, gradually and methodically, if one Was lucky, to always go in beauty, to always look for the pattern, and to find it. All of these terms led Loophole to think back on the evidence that he had and try to connect someone with what happened to Ernest. Near the middle of the book, Loophole went back to interview Shorts Bowlegs. When he went inside, he was trying to remember what he was wearing and how he was acting. When Loophole opened the door, the only thing he saw was Shorts lying face down with a knife wound to his back. This is also when he noticed that two horses had been missing, but one returned and Cecil had arrived back to the Hogan. The other he assumed was missing from George taking it to wherever he may be hiding. The only thing left for Loophole to do is to start interrogating the students that George went to school with to see if he can find his whereabouts. Looking back on all the information Loophole has, he now has a double minced, and the only person that may truly know what is going on is missing. He reflects that he doesnt think that George is the killer because of the mysterious moccasins he seen at the scene of the murder of Ernest. If it were the case of George, he would have had to switch shoes which didnt really make sense to Loophole. The only key part of this investigation is he needs to either find George the murderer, or George the future victim of a double homicide. About three-fourths the way through the book, Loophole finally has a lead from Father Mingles that makes him believe he has headed to the Dance Hall of he Dead.Amazingly on the way he finds Susanne hitchhiking down the road, which he uses to his advantage because he knows George, would talk to her if they were to find him. After they arrive Loophole uses his excellent tracking skills to find the horse tracks from the missing horse at the Bowlegs Hogan, which h e ends up finding. Then after he found the tracks, he knew that George was an excellent hunter and that he needed food, so Loophole was to track the nearest deer tracks and hopefully those will lead to Georges hopeful location. Finally near the end of the book, Loophole was at the festival, trying to let people know that he has given up looking for George. Just as he was about to call it quits, he sees George standing on a balcony across from him. Loophole obviously went into pursuit to try and catch him, but by the time he got to the alley he saw George go in, he heard a loud shot. When he found George, he was dead, and all he seen was his body and a feather from a Colombia mask. He then followed the tracks from the killer, and saw two moccasin tracks had captured the killer and this is when he realized that the investigation was all over.Loophole never told Maloney who the killer was, but thought maybe nee day he will send him a note explaining who the killer was. This was a very interesting and very well illustrated and detailed book. I am not one to read books but I am glad you assigned these to us. Was surprised to See that the killer wasnt George to say the least. He lasted how long out on the run from a professional tracker and from a man who wanted to make sure he wouldnt unfold his fake important dig. It was also very intriguing to see it was DRP. Reynolds, and how they incorporated him into the story. It all revolved around the Gun/Navajo ways and it showed me a lot about how hey all will do anything for their own culture. The only thing I thing that made it difficult for police to help solve a case is when they dont give any details or the will to work with the police. For example, Cecil would not help Loophole because he worked for the police and he was even a fellow Navajo. I also see this being an issue anywhere around us today. You have those who still own land and they cherish that within their community. They have their own ways of policing and don t really let others interfere with anything on their land. skinexdette1973http://www.blogger.com/profile/04060249106105281144noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3865599261503930998.post-32839172965227777042020-05-05T23:48:00.001-07:002020-05-05T23:48:20.974-07:00Electrolux free essay sample How did Electrolux Chief Executive Strasberg break down barriers (and increase communications) between departments? Answer: Introduction There are various ways and means that leaders can use to lead the people. In this case, the following leaders are going to be used in the analysis (Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King and Steve Jobs). It is considered vital to learn the impact of leadership styles indicated by the above leaders in order to develop individual approach on leadership, this will make one a productive and effective leader. Leadership is considered as one of the success stories that had made significant changes for the betterment of the society. Various scholars have deduced that leadership is a learned behavior, while others have dismissed such claims and considered leadership as a born behavioral trait. Chaudhry and Javed (2012) on the other hand depicts that, the failures of similar organizations are also attributed to poor leadership. Leadership is a behavioral practice that has to be cultured in order to meet the needs and demands of the people. We cannot shy away from good leadership, but we can corre ct or amend our bad leadership styles to conform to better and well-known leadership traits that meets modern or contemporary needs and demands (Chemers 2014). The purpose of this paper is to discuss leadership theories as well as factors that attributed to bad and good leadership (limitations of theories). The above three leaders are known to offer the best in leadership hence able to influence their people to the best. For example, Mahatma Gandhi was a great leader from India was leading concept was based on situational leadership concepts and ideology (John and Taylor 2014). According to situational leadership theory, leaders in this type of category are viewed as changing their leadership tactics based on the level of task ahead of them. This type of leadership can be attained by using participatory style whereby ideas are shared among followers. This leadership style also allows delegation of duties (Shriberg, A, Shriberg and Lloyd 2002). According to Mahatma Gandhi, his leadership was full of selling style-all the decisions taken by the leader are explained to others. Moreover, Preston (2012) illustrated that Mahatma Gandhi used telling style-specific concerns are shared with specific individuals while undertaking their chores and responsibilities. The other leader is Steve Jobs. He is considered as a transformational leader. Under this type of leadership, he was able to use creativity and innovation amid his employees at Apple to drive his leadership style (Susanj and Jakopec 2012). In addition, he used rewarding system to attain the best performance among his employees or followers. Lastly, Martin Luther King was a transformational leader that incorporated charismatic and inspirational values to manage his followers. The key ideology behind this type of leadership is to foster motivation to create or boost performance. It can be deduced that leaders such as the ones discussed above used several leadership style, hence their success in leadership (Preston, 2012) Leader Analysis Steve Jobs To start we are going to examine the leadership qualities, styles, and achievements comparatively and analytically of a man named Steve Jobs, who started small in a garage, in 1976, become separated in 1985 but returned to find it almost bankrupt and in ruins in 1997. By the time he passed away in October 2011 the company became the globes most valuable business entity, and in his life cycle at the helm of apple he changed the world with tablet computing, personal computing, animated movies, mobile phones, digital publishing not to mention retail stores and the huge success they derived. This revitalizing seven industries along the way, IE, communication, software and computer rendering, Pixar to name a few. This places him in midst of giants like Henry Ford, Thomas Edison and Walt Disney, all using their innovation and intelligence to make a better world. The value of interpersonal connections in solidifying a relationship, organizational culture, or business deals, Social capital conveys the notion that strong relationships have a tremendous value of goodwill. Great multicultural leaders are able to generate this goodwill across cultures and inspire strong interpersonal relationships, not only between people very much like themselves, but also among people who may be quite different from them. Steve jobs achieved this through vision and inventiveness of products and systems, which made the world more connected and dissimilar. This created enhanced understandings of cultures and their different ways of seeing each other, according to (Hamm 2006), CEOs who fail to communicate, clarify and relate their vision, will fail to impress upon people the importance of this and create meaningless cultures. Some keys to his success according to Walter Isaacson (2012) viewpoint were that in 1997 taking back an array of computers and peripherals. Moreover, at least a dozen differing Macintosh clones, screaming stop and it is explained how they were going to concentrate on just four computers, by doing this saved the company from bankruptcy, stating what to do is as important a decision as what not to do, thats true for products as well for companies. Simplification strategies like, taking responsibility end to end, whereby he knew the best method to gain simplicity was to guarantee seamless integration of peripheral devices, hardware and software. IE, a Mac with iTunes connected to an iPod allowing problem free, smoother and simpler synchronizing between the devices. Analyzing Steve Jobs effectiveness, Steves early mentor, wrote him a memo urging three basic principles, empathy, focus, and impute. The last being a little awkward but became a key for jobs, he knew people form opinions on companies and products on structures of how it has presented and packaged, that taught him people do judge a book by its cover. These and the hunger for integrating a world with the success of his ingenuity, and vision while being very successful made him a very effective leader that unified and shrunk the world a little more, also saving lives through knowledge sharing genius and inventiveness. Leader Analysis Martin Luther King An example of a modern leader who transformed life, as we know it for many in the USA and for many around the world was Dr Martin Luther King Jr (MLK). Dr King in his journey to racial equality and justice displayed many of the traits the modern study of leadership deems necessary in order to lead a company or be successful in leadership in everyday life, these traits include but are not limited to ethics, multicultural leadership, the psychology of leadership. Through Martin Luther Kings leadership we can also see an example of the four characteristics of a transformational leader (Burns 1978 ), similar to that of Gandhi who transformed the way people thought and acted about social justice and race in India years earlier. In order to properly determine if Dr Martin Luther King would be would be the ideal candidate from Mr Jobs and Gandhi we must first analyses these key traits and behaviors. Trust is the strongest form of currency in leadership (Brunicardi et al. 2007, Shriberg and Shriberg 2011), you cannot have trust without ethics, therefore it is the strength of MLKs ethics that when examined can help explain the strength of his transformational abilities. MLK born into a family of Baptist ministers in Atlanta Georgia was always certain of his convictions, he was a strong moral person and a strong moral manager (Shriberg and Shriberg 2011), this birthed his understanding of life and his value system. The most outstanding of which was to love your brother, MLK believed that he must match hate with love in order to change the opinions of white Americans. On top of this unwavering belief MLK opposed all the trappings of wealth and success, he lived a modest life in order to stay true to himself and stay a part of the community he was fighting for (Clayborne 2005). Such strong morals and ethical convictions made believers out of many people, both black and white. MLKs power to change the opinions and gain leadership over many was displayed most prominently when he matched on the nations capital, he enlisted the help of Caucasian to stand with him and fight the injustice they see around them. This ability to understand other cultures makes MLK, by definition, a multiculturalist; he has transitioned through the stages of acceptance to be able to understand all fellow men. The only other prominently documented example of this is Dr Kings respect for Ghandi (McGuire and Hutchings 2007) and his teachings; he drew from men of all cultures and faiths because of his respect for them, therefore, if MLK was a leader today he would thrive as a leader in a globalized world. Further evidence of MLKs ability to outperform any other leader in todays globalised world is shown when we look at MLKs self doubt and questioning character, he was keenly aware of his limitations. This level of self-understanding along with his ability to understand all other manner of people makes him a person with incredibly high EI, something that is more valuable than intelligence in the work place. Dr King is perhaps one of the best examples of a Transformational leader alongside Ghandi. The philosophy of non-violent protests for social change uplifted people to a higher motivational and moral level in order to create real and lasting change. He did this by utilizing the four key characteristics of transformational leadership (Burns 1978), namely: -Idealized influence: MLK was an upstanding person and someone to model yourself by, because of this influence he achieved this first characteristic (Clayborne 2005). -Inspirational motivation: MLK had the enviable skill of being able to eloquently articulate the change he wanted to see in a clear and systematic way, this allowed for a clear mission statement for people to get behind (Stone et al. 2004). -Intellectual stimulation: MLK held services and talks to inform African Americans of their oppressions; however, he also encouraged his community to take hold of the information, educate themselves to expand their own understanding (McGuire and Hutchings 2007). -Individualised consideration: MLK cared and valued his followers, he personally attended funerals of those who he lost and grieved as one of the community, this personal attachment to his clan allowed for a deep emotional connection to his devotees (Clayborne 2005). It is all the qualities, traits and behaviors combined in the one entity of Dr Martin Luther King Jr that made him one of the greatest transformational leaders in the western world. Those traits would also make him one of the greatest leaders of the globalised business world today. Leader Analysis Mahatma Gandhi Mahatma Gandhi is commonly credited with leading India to its independence from British occupation (Shriberg and Shriberg), (Barnabas and Clifford). However, he was not necessarily a natural leader in his younger years and only shaped his true leadership ambitions following successful litigation in South Africa where he practiced law. It was also, where he experienced personal discrimination and perhaps more importantly fashioned his own personal philosophies. Of particular interest in terms of leadership is the style of opposition Gandhi employed against the British. Prior to Gandhi joining the Indian National Congress Indians had several violent clashes with British soldiers resulting in bloodshed and little progress. Gandhi looked to adopt a strategy of non-violence thus empowering all Indians in their struggle against occupation. In describing Gandhis form of leadership the literature is varied and considers him an ideal representative of servant (Barnabas and Clifford 2012), transformational (Shriberg and Shriberg 2011) and democratic (Ray and Ray 2012) leadership. Servant leadership refers to the concept where a leader has to have experience of acting as a servant (Spears 1996) or experience of his followers challenges. Barnabas and Clifford (2012) argue that Mahatma Gandhi personified the model of servant leadership as a result of him exhibiting qualities such as seeing himself as a servant of the people; acting in service of his followers; displaying integrity and interestingly using moral reasoning to influence others (Barnabas and Clifford 2012). As Shriberg and Shriberg note (2011) transformational leadership results in mutually beneficial relationships between leaders and followers whereby the leader is seeking to promote growth and real change. Thus, transformational leadership is focussed on the growth of both leaders and followers. Of particular interest is the crossover between transformational and servant style leadership styles as described by Shriberg and Shriberg (2011) stating that both transformational and servant leadership are about power to rather than power over. The term democratic leadership is also used to describe Gandhi and refers to a very open and collegial style of running a team (Ray and Ray 2012) and describe Gandhi as an ideal model of democratic leadership in democratic movements (Ray Ray 2012). This assertion is made on the basis that Gandhi worked hard to deliver democracy to India and was focussed on human rights. It can be argued that it is appropriate to describe Gandhis leadership style as servant, transformational and democratic. In terms of servant leadership Gandhi acted like a common man and was seen as a common man by his followers. They were able to relate to him. He acted in service of them, understood the difficulties of the common person and as such can be described as a servant leader. Gandhis concept of non-violent opposition and ability to motivate millions of Indians in this action represents true elevation of both follower and leader. It also required sacrifice by both follower and leader and is a powerful example of transformational leadership. Both India and Gandhi grew and matured as Gandhi led and India followed. The argument for Gandhi as a democratic leader appears less compelling and whilst it is true Gandhi truly symbolizes servant and transformational leadership all three can be used to describe his leadership. Individual Feedback 1 There is nothing good like undertaking a task in a group. We were able to integrate the course materials as well as come with better understanding of the assignment because of the efforts that each member of the group contributed. It is also evident that the group was split into further groups, this made efforts towards undertaking the task an easy one. I was given a task to undertake in the group. This is one of the added advantage that come with group work. I can deduce that there were various merits related to group work, which I was part of. The below are example of the merits: All the work that was done individually was evaluated by other members of the group, as a result, the group was attained the best results ever. During the group was an added advantage in several ways such as timely delivery of the assignment done and that the work did meet the needs and the demands expected. I consider that group work was the best thing that ever happened in my academic life. I was able to understand all the coursework as well as undertake our group work assignment as a team. Lastly, I conclude that if it were not of the teamwork sprit vested in us, we could not have completed the assignment on time, not to say even doing it better than we did as a team. Individual Feedback 2 I consider leadership is the ability of a superior person to introduce to its subordinates the roles and responsibility in confidence and power to handle their chores (Chemers 2014). The group process was able to guide and influence the work of others in order to meet the needs and the demands or to attain certain goals (Herrmann and Felfe 2014). It may also be defined as the position held by group of people or an individual that offers him or her a chance to participate interpersonal influence on others members in order to direct and mobilize their efforts towards attaining certain goals and objectives. The leader is supposed to manage the group, promote group cohesion and move others to attain the goals of the group and to maintain the pace or momentum of the group or team. The leader may arise in the team or group because of his or her personal values and qualities or by the virtue of common consent by other group members. In this case, the leader is able to drive his or her will and power from others team or group members. He is considered to go ahead with the leadership position at will or the team in a collective manner (Herrmann and Felfe 2014). It is considered that leadership exists in most team or group setting regardless of the size of the group. Individual Feedback 3 I consider that there are various theories states that good leaders or effective leaders have a common interest on some of the personalities such as traits and characteristics. According to early trait theories, leadership is innate, it has instinctive qualities that you may or may not have. Thanks to the new values of leadership that denote leadership, qualities can be learned. It is clear that trait theories help to identify the best leadership traits and qualities. However, it is clear that none of the traits or even a combination of the theories will be able to offer or support the success of leadership. The theories also state that traits are external behaviours that come up from our minds. It is clear that the theories are considered as an internal and external processes and beliefs that are vital of effective leadership (Lam and O'Higgins 2012). Therefore, it is ideal to note that the facets of trait theories are there to support of clarify the traits that are related to the ethical systems of a group or an individual when it comes to support of better leadership. It is ideal to note that trait theories have offered better understanding of the values that have to be on board to create a better leader. Leadership is considered as a behavior or values that is developed or created in order to support leadership success (Preston, 2012). Likewise, behavioral theories have limitations as trait theories. First it does not explain the causes of bad leadership especially in the contemporary world, knowing that most of the leaders are known to have better leadership. Lastly, it does not pin the values that are considered important when it comes to provision of best leadership traits (Roueche, Baker III and Rose 2014). Thus, it is clear that behavioral theories, do not explain the facets of leadership, for instance, it does not explain the best leadership styles that should be adopted but rather it offer a list of many leadership styles. Scott Fitzgerald's The Last Tycoon Idealism Is undoubtably present in F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Last Tycoon. Infatuation may be a better word, for that was exactly what possessed the main character, Monroe Stahr. He was totally engorged with one Kathleen Moore. He idealized Miss Moore as the second coming of his deceased wife Minna Davis. Stahr was a true man of men that had little to do with women since the tragic passing of his wife. He would rather put his feet up with a cigar and shoot the breeze with the boys. Yet once he laid eyes on Kathleen for the first time, all of that changed. It was love at first sight. Kathleen and Stahr meet after an earthquake rocked Los Angles. Stahr was surveying the damage done to the studio, when a prop came floating by with two "dames" clinging to it for their lives. A stage hand rescued and presented them to Stahr for judgement. That was the moment that would change everything. The following excerpt is a narration of what was going through Stahr's mind when he was struck blind by Cupid's golden arrow. "Smiling faintly at him from not four feet away was the face of his dead wife, identical even to the expression. Across the four feet of moonlight, the eyes he knew looked back at him, a curl blew a little on a familiar forehead; the smile lingered, changed a little according to pattern; the lips parted--the same." (Chp II, p.26) She was Minna, but she wasn't. All her features were Minna's, except her voice. "--and then he heard another voice speak that was not Minna's voice." (Chp II, p.26) She was obviously British and not glamorous American, as Minna's had been. Nevertheless, she was a replica of his life long love. Stahr determined right then that she would be the next. Before he could get himself together, Kathleen was whisked away by the police for trespassing. Stahr spent the next few days trying to track her down. By this time he had fully succumbed to her rapture. On their third meeting, they happened to stumble upon each other at a posh Hollywood party. Her beauty brought back all the sensations that had trapped him initially. The scene was as follows: "...the white table lengthened and became an altar where the priestess sat alone. Vitality welled up in him, and he could have stood a long time across the table from her, looking and smiling...(while dancing) she was momentarily unreal. Usually a girl's skull made her real, but not this time--Stahr continued to be dazzled as they danced out along the floor...." (Chp. V, p.73) Stahr wanted desperately to have her as is own, but she was not to be had. Unbeknownst to him she was engaged to be married. She tried to tell him, but could not. She too was in love. The romance that followed was of a whirl wind pace that ended with a "Dear John" letter. She could not bring herself to tell him in person. Kathleen had fallen in love with Stahr although she resisted it by the fact she was already involved with another man. His ideal was not to be realized. His ideal goddess was the beginning of Stahr's downfall. The simple fact that Stahr was unable to win Kathleen away from her fianc? causes him to become extremely miserable. In F. Scott Fitzgerald's own words: "Stahr is miserable and embittered toward the end." (Author's Notes, p.149) He continued to love her to the end, as he lost his life, he lost it lovelessly. All this fuss over a woman might seem a bit trivial, but in true love, nothing is trivial. Monroe Stahr idealized Kathleen Moore as the true cure to all his ills and loveless nights. To him, she was Minna Davis. In being, but not spirit, she was a replica. This theme of idealism is similar to what Richard Slotkin reflects as "the American dream of perpetual self-improvement and transcendence." (22) Stahr idealized Kathleen as his way of perpetual self-improvement. He believed that Kathleen was the ticket he was waiting for, the ticket to happiness and closure. His life was a non stop slug skinexdette1973http://www.blogger.com/profile/04060249106105281144noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3865599261503930998.post-52680038187556396762020-04-17T12:59:00.001-07:002020-04-17T12:59:03.966-07:00Essay Writing Topics SamplesEssay Writing Topics SamplesThere are many different essay writing topics samples that you can find on the internet. He uses the Prioress, Monk, Friar, Summoner, and Pardoner to illustrate what he saw wrong within the Church. Chaucer uses the Clerk, Parson and the Plowman to illustrate the attributes the Church should possess. The Prioress is a nun who is probably equal to the rank of Mother Superior. She does not show the humility or dedication to God. Her compassion is shown towards animals. She makes sure her animals eat the best meats. She is more focused on natural love than agape love by the brooch she wears which says Love conquers all. She does not spend her time fasting because the author lets us know that she is fat. In correlation to the Church, the Prioress shows the Church's lack of dedication and humility towards God. The Church is more concerned with matters which do not deal with the deliverance of the human soul. Like the Prioress, the Monk does not walk in his calling. He is the monastery's outrider. This position allows him to roam the countryside at his will. Instead of being separate from the world, he is of the world. He loves to hunt and enjoys riding his horse. He does not value the teachings of his monastery because he feels they are somewhat strict. The Monk does not like to study. Why should he study, and drive himself mad, Over a book in a cloister always to pour, Or work with his hands, and labor, As St. Augustine bids? How shall the world be served? Let Augustine have his work to himself reserved (12-13). Chaucer sees the Church through the Monk as being more involved in its own affairs. The Church has gotten away from the basic Bible teachings and has instituted its own. Huburt, the Friar, like the Prioress and Monk, is not operating within his vocation. He does not spend time with the poor ministering to their phsyical needs as well as their spiritual needs. The Friar believes that because of his status he couild not spend time with these needy people. It was not fitting, considering his position, To be acquainted with sick lepers. It is not creditable, it holds no profit To deal with any such paupers (16). He spends time begging for donations from the rich farmers and other worthy women of the town. For a price he will hear confessions and give penance. He believes that ... instead of weeping and prayers, Men should give silver to the poor friars (15). This pilgram shows the Church being more concerned with the financial support for itself than the spiritual needs of the congregation. The Church has devised a way in which to collect money from it's members by promising them forgiveness with dollar signs attached to it. The Summoner is responsible for issuing summons for the Church to people who have violated Church doctrine. His position is interesting because he is handing out summons for people to appear before the Church when he himself is living in direct violation of Church doctrine. The Church seems to see what is wrong with everyone else but cannot focus on it's own violations of the doctrine taught in the Bible. The Pardoner is the most corrupt pilgram. He provides paper indulges for a price. These indulges are part of the scam the Pardoner is running. He also offers junk for sale which he says were relics of the saints. The Church has developed another mechanism for making money. It uses the selling of crosses, statues, and other trinkets which are supposed to remind us of what Christ has done for us. If these items were really to remind us of what Christ did for us they would be free, since Christ gave his life freely. The Clerk is the first pilgram Chaucer birngs into the script which has some godly attributes. He spends time in prayer and fasting because the narrator lets us know that he ...wasn't exactly fat, ...(19) and ...busily prayed for souls (20). Each concept should be taught using math manipulatives and many concrete experiences. For instance, when teaching subtraction, use cereal, coins, jelly beans and provide many experiences with physically moving the objects and printing the number sentence (8 - 3 5). Then move to the worksheets. For word problems, students/learners should have an understanding of the computations required and then exposure to word problems are necessary to ensure they can use the computation in authentic situations. à When beginning fractions, many experiences with pizzas, fraction bars and circles should be used to ensure understanding. Fractions have two components for understanding, parts of a set (eggs, rows in gardens) and parts of the whole (pizza, chocolate bars etc.) à I have, who has, is a fun game to enhance learning. skinexdette1973http://www.blogger.com/profile/04060249106105281144noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3865599261503930998.post-25182202269853862412020-03-12T18:02:00.001-07:002020-03-12T18:02:02.978-07:00What Subjects Are on the SATWhat Subjects Are on the SAT SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips Are you taking the SAT soon or beginning your preparations but arenââ¬â¢t sure whatââ¬â¢s on the test? You may know that thereââ¬â¢s math, some reading, and maybe an essay you need to write, but what subjects are on the SAT, exactly? In this guide, weââ¬â¢ll break down the subjects you need to know to do well on each section of the SAT as well as explain what SAT Subject Tests are, how they're different from the regular SAT, and who needs to take them. We'llend with tips you should follow when studying for the SAT. SAT Overview: Sections and Timing Before we start looking in-depth at what subjects are on the SAT, letââ¬â¢s first get a broad overview of what the SAT covers. There are three main sections on the SAT: Reading, Writing and Language, and Math. There is also an optional essay. Section Minutes Given Number of Questions Reading 65 52 Writing and Language 35 44 Math 80 58 Essay (Optional) 50 1 Total 3 hours, 50 minutes (3 hours without the essay) 154 (+1 essay prompt) The SAT sections will always go in this order, beginning with Reading and ending with (if you choose to take it), the SAT Essay. The Math section is divided into two groups, the first of whichyou canââ¬â¢t use a calculator (25 minutes and 20 questions), and the second, where a calculator is allowed (55 minutes and 38 questions). Below, for each section of the SAT, Iââ¬â¢ll explain what subjects it covers. What Subjects Are on the SAT Reading? All questions on SAT Reading are based on passages. The SAT Reading section contains five passages with 52 multiple-choice questions, which means there will be about 10-12 questions for each passage. Some passages are paired with other passages, and some have graphics, such as tables, graphs, and charts accompanying them. There will be at least one passage from each of the following topics: U.S. or world literature U.S. founding document or a text inspired by one Social science (such as economics, psychology, sociology, etc.) Science (Earth science, biology, chemistry, or physics) SAT Reading tests the following skills: Command of Evidence:Finding evidence in a passage that supports the answer to a question. Words in Context:Use context clues to determine the meaning of a word. Analysis in History/Social Science and Science:Examine hypotheses, interpret data, and consider implications Subjects This Section Covers Even though the SAT Reading passages will be on different subjects such as literature, science, and social science, you donââ¬â¢t need to worry about having any prior knowledge on what each passage discusses. You'll be able to answer all the questions based on information provided in the passage, so you donââ¬â¢t need to worry about memorizing information on biology, U.S. documents, etc. beforehand. The SAT Reading section primarily tests critical reading skills such as the ability to read a passage and understand the conclusions the author makes, being able to understand what certain vocabulary means, and the ability to analyzethe relationship between graphics and the passages theyaccompany. The skills you use for this section are similar to the skills you use in your English classes when you're reading a book, article, or other form of writing. For both your class and the exam, you'll need to be able to analyze the piece of writing and the author's intentions. What Subjects Are on the SAT Writing and Language? Like the Reading section, all questions in the SAT Writing and Language are based on passages. There will be four passages and a total of 44 questions, which means each passage will be followed by 11 questions. Each passage will each cover one of the following subjects: Careers, Social Studies, Humanities, and Science. Careers passages could discuss trends or debates in major professional fields, such as medicine, technology, or business. Social studies passages might focus on topics from history, anthropology, psychology, political science, or sociology. Humanities passages could feature an author or explore trends in literature, drama, art, music, or dance. Science passages will focus on Earth science, biology, chemistry, or physics. The passages will either be argument-based, explanatory, or nonfiction narrative. Also, at least one passage will also be accompanied by a diagram, such as a chart, table, or graph. Each of these passages will be riddled with errors in punctuation, word choice, sentence structure, and organization. The questions in this section will ask you to identify and fix these errors. SAT Writing covers four major skills areas: Command of Evidence, Words in Context, Expression of Ideas, and Standard English Conventions. About 24 questions will focus on Command of Evidence, Words in Context, and Expression of Ideas. These questions ask about development, organization, and effective language use.About 20 questions will focus on Standard English Conventions. These questions ask about sentence structure, usage, and punctuation. Subjects This Section Covers SAT Writing and Language questions focus on three main subject areas. You've likely covered these three subjects in your English or Writing classes as you write and edit your work and other's work. Grammar These questions will test your ability to fix grammar errorsand correctly identify errors in verb tenses and forms, pronoun agreement, subject-verb agreement, run-on sentences and fragments, idioms, and punctuation rules. Grammarquestions make up about 45% of the Writing and Language section. Style Style questions test your ability to analyze word choice, sentence construction, and paragraph construction. These questions make up about 7% of the section. Reading Comprehension For reading comprehension questions in this section, you'll need to be able to understandwhy certain words or sentences are used in a given passage or if they should be replaced with other words or sentences. Reading Comprehension questions make up approximately 48% of the section. What Subjects Are on the SAT Math? SAT Math is composed of two sections. The first, during which you will have no calculator, is 25 minutes and consists of 15 multiple-choice questions and 5 grid-in questions. The second section, during which a calculator is allowed, is 55 minutes and has 30 multiple-choice questions and 8 grid-ins, including an Extended Thinking question. College Board sorts the question types into three main subject areas: Heart of Algebra Passport to Advanced Math Problem Solving and Data Analysis There is also a fourth category, called Additional Topics, which includes about 10% of the SAT Math section and includes questions on geometry, basic trigonometry, and complex numbers. Subjects This Section Covers SAT Math covers 24 main topics, within four main sections. The first two sections below, basic algebra and advanced algebra, both fit within the College Board's "Heart of Algebra" subject area. Basic Algebra Linear functions Single variable equations Systems of linear equations Absolute value Advanced Algebra Manipulating polynomials Quadratic equations Dividing polynomials Exponential functions Function notation Solving exponential equations Solving exponential equations Problem Solving and Data Analysis Ratios and proportions Scatterplots and graphs Categorical data and probabilities Experimental interpretation Median, median, mode, standard deviation Additional Topics Coordinate geometry - lines and slopes Coordinate geometry - nonlinear functions Geometry - circles Geometry - lines and angles Geometry - solid geometry Geometry - triangles and polygons Trigonometry Complex numbers The majority of questions (over half) will be on algebra, so this is the subject you should focus most of your studying on. A maximum of 10% of questions will cover geometry and trigonometry, and these questions will ask only basic questions on these subjects, so if you havenââ¬â¢t taken classes in either of them, you should still be able to learn the information you need to know fairly easily. If you choose to take the SAT Essay (itââ¬â¢s the only optional section on the exam), you will have 50 minutes to plan and write one complete essay. For the essay, you will be given a passage by an author who has taken a stance on an issue. Your job will be to analyze how to author builds her argument. Subjects This Section Covers For the SAT Essay, youââ¬â¢ll use many skills similar to those you usein your English classes when writing standard five-paragraph essays.Major skills essay graders look for are your ability to analyze an argument and understand how evidence and rhetorical devices contribute to an argument. While youââ¬â¢ll want your essay to be clear and easy to understand, a few minor spelling and grammar errors wonââ¬â¢t lose you points, so you donââ¬â¢t have to worry about your essay being technically perfect. What Are the SAT Subject Tests? What Do They Cover? The College Board also offers 20 different SAT Subject Tests within five main areas.SAT Subject Tests are meant to measure your knowledge and skills in a specific area. This is in contrast to the regular SAT which (as you read above) assess multiple subjects. Only some colleges require or recommend submitting Subject Test scores, so be sure to check the guidelines of the schools youââ¬â¢re applying to before you begin preparing for a Subject Test. Below are the 20 different Subject Tests currently offered. English Literature History U.S. History World History Languages Chinese with Listening French French with Listening German German with Listening Italian Japanese with Listening Korean with Listening Latin Modern Hebrew Spanish Spanish with Listening Mathematics Mathematics Level 1 Mathematics Level 2 Science Biology E/M Chemistry Physics How to Prepare for the Subjects on theSAT: 3 Further Tips Knowing what subjects are on the SAT will help you become more comfortable and familiar with the exam, which will likely help your score. Follow these three additional tips to be sure youââ¬â¢re getting the most out of your SAT prep. Answer High-Quality Practice Questions Now you know which subjects are on the SAT, but you still need to be familiar with SAT questions.Just knowing that algebra, geometry, and trig will be on SAT Math isnââ¬â¢t enough; youââ¬â¢ll want to know how questions on each of these subjects are worded in order to become really familiar with the SAT and maximize your score. Answeringlots of practice questions is the best way to do this. You can use questions from practice exams (discussed more below), or from a high-quality SAT prep book. Take Complete Practice Exams During your studying, youââ¬â¢ll want to take at least one (and ideally at least three to four) complete practice SAT.Taking complete practice SATs is important because it gives you the most realistic idea of what the real SAT will be like.Youââ¬â¢ll learn how testing for several hours affects you, if you get tired and distracted towards the later sections, and, after you score your exam, youââ¬â¢ll have a good idea of how well youââ¬â¢d do on the actual SAT. You'll also get to experience switching between the different subjects the SAT tests and learn how well you manage that. Be sure to take your SAT under realistic testing conditions. That means take the test all in one sitting, timed, and with minimal distractions.Try to use official practice tests since theyââ¬â¢ll be the closest to the real SAT. We have links to several free and official SAT practice tests you can use. Target Your Weak Areas When youââ¬â¢re studying for the SAT, make sure youââ¬â¢re spending most of your time on the areas you need to improve in the most. After each practice exam or set of practice problems you complete, go through the questionsand figure out which subjects youââ¬â¢re making most of your mistakes in. Try to get as specific as possible. Maybe your SAT Math section is your lowest score, but which questions exactly are you getting wrong? Maybe youââ¬â¢re nailing the algebra questions but get tripped up geometry, for example. This is where your knowledge of the subjects on the SAT will come in handy because youââ¬â¢ll be able to more easily identify the areas you need to improve in the most. After youââ¬â¢ve figured out which subjects you can improve the most in, spend most of your time on these areas. By doing so, youââ¬â¢ll likely see score improvements more quickly. Conclusion: What Subjects Are on the SAT Test? The SAT has three major sections that will test your skills in reading comprehension, writing and grammar, and math. Each of these sections includes material from several different subjects that you should be comfortable with. Knowing which subjects are on the SAT will help you be better prepared for the test. To help with your studying, you should also complete high-quality practice problems and practice exams and pinpoint your weak areas so that your studying is effective and focused. What's Next?
